Top 5 Songs to Get People Dancing

Receptions are best known as party time - what does every party need? Dancing! But humans as normally shy in a big group of people so you need to play the right songs in order to get everyone off their butts and onto the dance floor. Hiring a professional DJ or Band can really help with this factor - they can read the room and based off their experience at events they know what songs to play and which ones to skip based on crowd reactions. Here are 5 songs that in the last year of weddings, we always see people run out to the dance floor to join:

1. Cha Cha Slide/Cupid Shuffle

These traditional line dances are super easy to do - and people usually feel comfortable dancing to them so the dance floor gets mobbed then when the next song comes on you usually lose about half the folks but it gets the party started.

2. Shout

Which my family changed to "Scout" because our dogs name is Scout and we dance with her in the house to it and she runs around like crazy. This one is an oldie but goodie and gets everyone moving!

3. Uptown Funk - Bruno Mars

I just started shaking my shoulders when the melody comes to mind. It's hard not to dance to this song. We usually get runners coming from the bar to get onto the dance floor for this one.

I mean in the song it says "so just dance dance dance" and boy do people! Fun song to sing along and get down to.

5. Get Low - Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys

OK now this one can be a bit inappropriate for earlier in the evening with kids and all that. However, the generation that is getting married now - this was their JAM at middle school/high school dances. Whenever this one comes on, you hear people saying "OMG - let's dance".
